Drainage Engineer Jobs UK – CCTV Surveyor & Jetting Vacancies

Commercial drainage engineers maintain and repair drainage infrastructure for facilities management contractors, local authorities, and water utilities. Core work includes CCTV drain surveys coded to WRc specification, high-pressure water jetting, root cutting, lining, and excavation-based repairs. Many roles require confined space certification and a full driving licence for mobile work.

Qualifications: NADC Certified Drain Surveyor (or equivalent WRc-accredited qualification) is required for most CCTV survey roles. High-pressure jetting operators typically need Water Jetting Association (WJA) cards. NRSWA Street Works qualifications are required for any work in the highway. Confined Space Certification (EUSR or equivalent) is standard for most reactive drainage contracts.

Salary benchmarks: Drainage operatives earn £22,000–£30,000. Engineers with jetting and survey experience reach £28,000–£40,000. Experienced CCTV surveyors with WRc MSCC4 coding competency typically earn £35,000–£50,000. Tanker drivers with HGV Class 2 licences command a premium on top of base rates, particularly in London and the South East.
