Commercial gas engineers install, service, and maintain gas-fired heating systems in offices, hospitals, retail parks, and industrial facilities. Unlike domestic gas work, commercial roles involve high-pressure pipework, plant room equipment, and large-scale boiler plant — often as part of a multi-discipline PPM contract for a Facilities Management company.

Gas Safe registration is mandatory for all gas work in the UK. For commercial roles, employers typically require ACS commercial gas qualifications — COCN1 (commercial boilers), CIGA1 (industrial gas appliances), or CDGA1 (distribution). Engineers holding additional tickets such as F-Gas Cat 1 or 18th Edition wiring regulations command salaries of £40,000–£58,000+ depending on experience and region.

Roles range from site-based engineers on long-term FM contracts to mobile engineers covering multiple commercial sites. Many employers also require CSCS card and IPAF/PASMA for rooftop or elevated plant access.
